Born: Jan 10, 2011 7lbs 15 oz 20.5 inches, 5:30 pm. Much anticipated our baby girl has arrived. Bittersweet emotions hit you just after giving birth while you gaze over at the new life you created on the scale. First you are relieved to not be pregnant anymore but then it hits you. No longer are the days when time seem to stand still because she was inside me and I could take her everywhere and felt her all the time. The clock has started. She will now grow before my eyes and eventually not need me to hold her and nurse her. Too sad but too joyous an occasion.
Shortly after our leaving the hospital what seemed like low concern jaundice concentrated and my girl was glowing like a bad spray tan. She became listless and wouldn't eat. She was admitted to the NICU and fortunately responded to the phototherapy and constant hydration. Pumping every 2 hours and not being able to hold her was tough. She is home now and doing better. She has not rebounded and we will recheck Tues.
What I learned..... that the NICU is not a place you ever want to see. Believe me I care for those with cancer and see some pretty sick folk, but babies just steal your heart. Bless those clinicians who care for them. My heart aches for the moms who have to spend weeks to months there with such uncertainty.
Okay how is that for a hormone ourpouring! I love my little Fancy girl and look forward to dressing her up and watching her become a fine lady.
